EXCITE! EDUCATE! ENTERTAIN! EXPLORE! Get ready to ignite our children’s appetite for knowledge while presenting them with unique and fun facts!
If you haven’t participated before: Spring Extravaganza is an educational experience where parents bring topics to life. The day begins at 9 am with a big assembly before all of the students, where your team of presenters parades into the room prompting a round of applause, laughs, and smiles from the children. It’s a blast to watch your child’s face light up as you make your way to the front. Each team of presenters is assigned a homeroom class where you’ll give a 10-15 minute lesson on the topic you’ve chosen, then guide the children through various crafts and/or games associated with those facts you’ve uncovered.
For example: J.K. Rowling presenters spoke about the author then had the children create Harry Potter related crafts: owls, wands, and Hogwarts badges.
Throughout the day, the children will attend five (5) presentations, collecting knowledge and having a lot of fun. Your child will attend your presentation. Every child will go home delighted, and YOU will be a rock star to your special student. Hundreds of parents have participated and we hope you will too.
Here are the many ways you can get involved: 1) BE A PRESENTER: The most important job of the day. You DO NOT need to be an expert on the topic you choose. You can do a bit of research and let your creative juices flow. Please keep groups to 5 presenters or fewer. 28 teams are needed for the event. Every year we have more and more dad-presenters too. This is the hero position of the day.
2) ASSIST A PRESENTER: If you don’t have an assembled team, let us know and we’ll help you to assemble a team.
3) LUNCHEON HELPER: Two or four people to assist with set-up and clean-up for the presenter’s luncheon. Note regarding the luncheon: You can bring your catered lunch outside to eat with your child and their own lunch or relax with the other adults. The luncheon (food and space) is FOR PRESENTERS ONLY.
4) CAN’T BE THERE THE DAY OF THE EVENT? BUT STILL WANT TO HELP?: Donated items and cash are welcome and appreciated. PLEASE email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to ask how you can help. We have tons of other ways for you to help with this amazing event.
